Joyriders are a group of cyclists who ride together at 5am every weekday morning from Longhouse, Upper Thomson Road (weekend rides start at 5.30 and 7am from the same place). We welcome everyone to our ride, from people training for their first triathlons, people trying to break personal bests for their Ironman triathlons, to those who have been cycling on their own but want to ride with a group and learn the basics of riding in a pack (such as signaling dangerous potholes on the road). Our motto is Born To Ride, but it might well be Born To Eat as there are as many serious cyclists who race as there are those who ride to burn off the extra calories (to eat more!), as can be seen from our weekend rides where we head to East Coast Hawker Centre or Botanical Gardens for our food. We are even known to the auntie selling wanton mee in Kulai (central Johor) or the uncle serving ice kachang in Desaru.
Friday- recovery ride reflections,
We have the good recovery ride today although the animal instinct of one rider and the rocket power of another were kept at bay from exploding into a free for all.
Amazingly after Mandai when our Guru Coach joined us, every one of us " quai quai" obediently went into second chain ring and span furiously. When he was not looking, a few of us cheated and went on highest gear, off the saddle and rock the bikes. But when he turned to check on the students, they immediately went to small chain and started looking up the sky for birds and whistling.
At the junction along Clementi and AYE, one taxi stalled with the driver slumped on the headrest. We thought he had a heart attack. Our Guru went to the taxi and tapped the bonnet. Fortunately the driver stirred and woke up. Not a good thing to do on the highway.
manage to did pull thanks to JR coach blackie!! good experience for me too =pSigning off,
