How to memorise the Books of the new testament.

Today together with my Cell mentors Eugene and Gab , we First made them Draw out pictures as illustration before telling them How can they form words using the First letter of the Book of the BiBle to form a weird story.

Starting from Book of Romans to James and here Goes:

The Quiet time

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. 

3 reasons why we don't memorize:
1. It takes effort
2. It reminds me of mugging
3. It requires a good memory

5 benefits of scripture memorization
1. It supplies spiritual Power
2. It strengthen your faith
3. It supports witnessing and counseling
4. It situates you in God's guidance
5. It stimulates mediation

Memorization - strengthens your faith ( repeatedly reinforcing biblical truth strengthens your faith )

proverbs 22:17-19

Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach, for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the Lord, I teach you today, even you. 

Memorization- supports witnessing and counseling ( turn Worldly conversations into spiritual conversations) > acts 2: 2-40

Memorization - stimulates meditation ( if you have it stored, you will subconscious think about it) psalm 119:97

7 steps to memorize the word of GOD
1. Motivate yourself
Not a problem of memory bit motivation ;
.Not a question of ability but attitude
.Not a question of weakness but willingness

2. Use a plan
.You can start with your struggle

3. Write it out
. Pen down everything

4. Picture it OUT

5. Master it word- perfect
.What is known accurately is always easier to recall than what is known approximately

6. Words with friends
. We memorize better together

7. Reviewed it daily

Spiritual disciplines  - you can be Godlike

Discipline without directions is dull , deadly and disgusting .

Romans 8:29
1 John 3:2
Hebrews 12:14

Why must we be disciplined?
1. It is the only way to godliness

Now let's see what's the definition of discipline .

"Discipline = gumnasia = exercise - 1 Timothy 4:8 "

Discipline people may not be godly people but godly people is discipline people!

3 primary catalyst
1. People : god changes us through people - proverbs 27:17 // UP TO GOD

2. Circumstances : god changes us through circumstances - Romans 8:28 // ALSO UP TO GOD

3. spiritual disciplines : 1 timothy 4:7 // DOWN TO US

Holiness is a gift from GOD ( Hebrews 2:11)

Why must we be discipline?
2.God expect it

3 simple steps

a. Apply your heart / proverbs 23:12

b. Learn from Jesus / Matthew 11:29

c. Follow it daily / Luke 9:23

3 truths to take away..
( 2 Peter 1:5-6)
a. You are in danger when you neglect the spiritual disciplines

b. You have freedom when you embrace spiritual disciplines

c. You are invited to enjoy the spiritual disciplines.

Discipline is the price to freedom but freedom is the reward to freedom
