Losing Touch with a living God ( Malachi )

Malachi 2:10- 13

Do we not all have one Father[a]? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our ancestors by being unfaithful to one another?

11 Judah has been unfaithful. A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem: Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the LORD loves by marrying women who worship a foreign god. 12 As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the LORD remove him from the tents of Jacob[b]—even though he brings an offering to the LORD Almighty.

13 Another thing you do: You flood the LORD’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer looks with favor on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands.

  • Hence When god does not answer your prayer, he has his reason

  • Some time it's because he want us to be Patient or either there's sins in our life we are aware off. So we need to do something about it before he steps in.
  • God hearing our prayer depends on the fight of our sins.
Psalm 66:18-19
18 If I had cherished sin in my heart,

the Lord would not have listened;

19 but God has surely listened

and has heard my prayer.

What about relationships? :
Read : Malachi 2:10-16
1a. Relationship with the church (Malachi 2:10)
b. Attitude of forgiveness towards your Brothers & sisters.
 Matthew 6:14,15
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

c. Check yourself before God and be a clean sheet of paper

 1 Peter 2:1-3
1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Loving attitude that prove your spiritual level

d. Build each other up in the kingdom of God and not bring each other down
Ephesians 4:29-31
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

e. Check by yourself that it is not done over pride but by a willing heart
Galatians 6:1
Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.
Check by yourself that it is not done over pride but by a willing heart
2. Relationships with non-Christian (Malachi 2:11-12)
a. The grounds for god's objecting to marriage outside god's people were religious , not racial.
b. Do not be in a relationship with someone who don't share the same God.
 Deuteronomy 7:1-4
When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations—the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you— 2 and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally.[a] Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. 3 Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, 4 for they will turn your children away from following me to serve other gods, and the LORD’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you.
c. Going against God's wishes is a Nono ( Been there Done that )
2 Corinthians 6:14
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
So.. So... A Christian must only Date a Christian
3. Relationship with Parents ( Malachi 2:13-16)
a. At times, applying this may be so so hard, But am sure we can work things out peacefully?
Exodus 20:12
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

If you do that, God will bless you!
b Listen hard Kids!.
Ephesians 6:1
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
